Big Dogs vs Little Dogs

Published by jesskathand at 2:11 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I have always preferred big dogs over little dogs. Big dogs were the ones you ran around in the yard with. Little dogs were cute and cuddly but not as fun as big dogs. I grew up with my big dogs. First was a German Shepherd named Houdini. He was great with my 2 year old self. Friendly, playful, protective. Next we adopted Ernie, the sweetest shepherd/husky mix ever known. My sister and I had so much running around in the backyard with Ernie. I remember teaching Ernie how to run up our slide.

I’m biased toward the big guys. Then we took in our foster dog, Snoop. Snoop is an Akita/Shepherd mix, he was 180 pounds when we took him in. He looks like a bear. He’s currently on a weight loss plan, and is now down to 164. Snoop has been a hard dog to find a home for. Many people look at him, say he’s a beautiful dog, but he’s too big. Snoop was in his previous foster home for a year. He was adopted once and returned. I have been putting Snoop all over different pet websites, but no one seems interested.

I was asked to help find a home for a Boston Terrier. I put him on petfinder.com and contacted a couple rescue groups. Within 5 hours, all the rescue groups said they would take him, plus a potential adopter called me! This little dog is saved!

My big foster dog? He’s still waiting for his furever home.
